Week 16--Developments and Changes

Another week has passed, so here we are again discussing what changes and developments can be expected this week! This week Peanut should be between 4. 3 and 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3 ounces. S/he can open his/her mouth, move the lips, and swallow. There are also a couple other things that are going on this week as well:
  • The baby may be sucking his/her thumb
  • Facial muscles may lead to various expressions, such as squinting and frowning
  • The heart is beating 117 to 157 times per minute
  • The stomach is producing digestive juices
  • The kidneys are producing urine
  • For females, millions of eggs are forming in the ovaries.
Also, any time now I should be able to start feeling the baby moving about. Poor Seth will have to wait a while still before he'll feel much of anything though. So not too much is happening, except for the wiggling and moving about that is expected to start, but that's enough to keep me entertained!
