Geeky 365 -- Day 180

I love this kid.  I love his smile.  I love hearing him tell me not to turn off the car because he likes the song on the radio, so we sit together and jam out until it ends.  I like watching him laugh and play.  I love hearing him sing or hearing him repeat the things I've told him.  He's such an amazing kid and I'm so damn lucky to get to be his mommy.

Geeky 365 -- Day 179

Tonight Orion got a hair cut.  It is a TON shorter than I expected it to be, but it will grow...I love the boy's hair, especially the curls, but he is still the cutest kid ever so I'm sure we'll live.  I think the biggest issue is that he looks like such a big boy.  Now, I realize that isn't an ACTUAL issue...I just am not ready for him to grow up and it's happening so much faster than I am ready for.  My little boy will be grown before I know it.

Geeky 365 -- Day 178

Bubbles....that was tonight's biggest form of entertainment.  Orion got a bubble machine for his birthday and last night we took it out on the porch.  Seth and Orion took turns blowing bubbles and chasing them around to pop them.

Orion laughed and jumped and danced.  I'm always amazed at how much joy can be found in the smallest, simplest things when you're young.  You can't help but smile when you see Orion jump around and immerse himself in complete and total happiness without any regards for what other people think.   I could definitely learn a thing or two from his young wisdom.  I would love to be able to laugh loudly and love whole-heartedly with total disregard for societal norms.

I guess that's just one more way that being a mom has changed my world for the better.  I'm once again reminded of days where we would play outside until the sunset, running around and laughing like we didn't have a care in the world.  I'm going to try to be a better example of that to Orion...I want him to see the beauty in the simple things and enjoy the world around him.  The only way he'll learn that is if we can show him how.

Geeky 365 -- Day 177

The silence over the last month has given me a lot of time to just watch Orion and appreciate the incredible little boy he is growing into.  It's the simple little things that I never want to miss and know are going to be the easiest to forget.  That's really the point of this blog...to keep me from missing any of it and remind me of those things I have forgotten while getting to share my experiences with the world (or at least the small part of it that visits us here).  Orion loves to pretend and is starting to be "creative" with his answers like saying his name is "daddy" or that a cow says "oink".  He sees monsters everywhere and is always giggling while hiding under a blanket, or fighting off the dandelions in the yard.  The words that come out of his mouth always amuse me, but when you combine them with his sweet little voice I can't help but laugh at him.  Seth asked him a question the other day and Orion's response:  "I don't know. On your face!"    It's moments like that which are hard to explain, but in that instant it is so much entertainment.  It's like an inside joke where "I guess you had to be there" to see just how special those moments are.

Tonight he took to playing dress up.  He was rocking a Viking hat and a bow tie while carrying around a sword adorned with Mardi Gras beads.  To say he is creative probably puts it mildly.  If nothing else I am always entertained.

Geeky 365 -- Day 176

What a crazy crazy month it has been for us all.  There was lots of visitors and traveling, and no internet!!  I think we're finally on the mend so I'm going to pick up where I left off.  I realize that it kind of defeats the purpose of a continuous 365, but it's easier than trying to back track 30ish posts.  So as a quick catch up, the weather has been incredible for this time of year (with the exception of Easter weekend of course) so we've spent a lot of time outside.  Orion learned how to hit a baseball, we planted flowers, and he got to go back to his grandparents house for an egg hunt and to spent time with some of his cousins.  He had a fantastic time.   We had some random communication issues with daycare which caused some unwanted stress, but things are looking up there for now at least.  All in all it's been crazy chaotic, but we've survived and are trying to get back to normal.  This evening was very laid back with Orion.  We really just lounged around the house and spent time playing in his toy kitchen.  Overall it was a pretty awesome night.  Here's hoping things stay calm enough to continue through the end of this project!!
