Geeky 365 -- Day 40

Today was Halloween.  Orion had so much fun trick-or-treating (I'm sure he would have kept going if we let him.  His costume was super cute and he got way more candy than he needed for sure.  Overall I would say it was a success.  Here are some of the pics to highlight the evening:

Geeky 365 -- Day 39

Home sweet home.  I am incredibly glad that Orion gets to spend time with his dad, but at the same time I spend the weekend looking forward to this moment:

Hugs from my boy

Orion is actually getting quite good at running the digital camera and loves to take pictures of the dog or anyone else who seems to catch his attention.  It's really fun to watch him learn and get excited over every shot.  He's such a smart boy.  I'm so proud of him and am so excited to see what his future holds.  Tomorrow is Halloween.  I'm hoping that he will actually keep his costume on....maybe the offer of candy will help that out.  I guess we will see!

Geeky 365 -- Day 38

Orion is spending the weekend with Seth.  I know they've chowed down some ice cream (which makes O make some funny faces).  I'm glad they get to spend some time together.   Orion loves his daddy.   I am looking forward to Monday where I get to see him all dressed up in his costume!  Hopefully he will actually keep it on!!

Geeky 365 -- Day 37

I love mornings that start of like today.  Orion woke up incredibly happy and giggling.  He wanted to snuggle and play.  Nothing brightens my morning disposition quite like that.  We got him to day care and he was super excited to see his friends and to run off and play.  One little hug and he was on his way.  He's growing up so dang fast.  It blows my mind really.  I remember dropping off that tiny baby for his first day and it seems so long ago.  I'm glad to have a place that he is happy to be, where he has friends and great people to take care of him.  It's something that is really easy to forget, but I am grateful to have a safe place for Orion to be while I am off working.

Geeky 365 -- Day 36

Halloween is coming so quickly.  This will be the first year that Orion can really understand what's going on so I'm very excited.  He is growing up so quickly.  It blows my mind.  This weekend he will be going to spend time with his daddy.  I'm hoping they have lots of fun together.

Geeky 365 -- Day 35

I love this time of year.  The weather is starting to cool, the natural world is changing, and things are just good.  Orion lately has been really interested in playing dress-up and I love to watch him create new characters and stories.  Tonight he was a viking, playing along with How to Train Your Dragon.

Geeky 365 -- Day 34

Tonight O spent the evening with his daddy again while I hemmed his costume.  I can't wait to see my little gnome all dressed up.  Not sure how he's going to feel about it, but I'm excited nonetheless. Here's a free preview:

Geeky 365 -- Day 33

Monday Monday.  It's a pretty typical day in our lives.  Spaghetti for supper, playing with some toys, reading some books, and tonight, some quality time watching Quackbusters with Orion.  He seems to enjoy Looney Tunes as much as I do.

This is our normal seating configuration.

Geeky 365 -- Day 32

Today was really uneventful.  Orion and I spent the day playing and reading stories.  He busted out some dress-up clothes including last year's Halloween costume.  I can't believe it's been a year since he first wore that costume.  He has grown into such a big boy.  It's hard to believe how quickly time goes by.

Geeky 365 -- Day 31

Today has been a great day.  Orion woke up in a great mood and had me laughing, which is a great way to start my day. This morning Seth and I took Orion to Roca Berry Farm this morning and had a fantastic time.  There was a fun house, music, a petting zoo, a life size Candyland game,  slides and playgrounds, and so much more.  The weather was perfect since it was not to hot or cold and there was no rain even though it was pretty cloudy.  We all had lots of fun wandering around the farm.  Orion was so excited and wanted to see everything.  There was a lot of laughter and tons of "Mommy look at that" from him.  By the time we left the farm Orion fell asleep pretty quickly.  We took Seth home and O and I drove back to Milford where we spent the rest of the afternoon just the two of us, reading books, watching movies, and lots of snuggling.    I love laid back days with O.  It makes for a great weekend.

Geeky 365 -- Day 30

Today was a good day. Orion was in a great mood, the sun was out and the weather was warm.  We didn't do much but listen to music and play, but it was still a lot of fun.  I'm glad it's Friday and I get to spend the weekend with my kiddo.  We have no plans and I am ok with that.  I hope to get O's costume hemmed but that's it on my agenda (other than some laundry).  Tonight was a breakfast for supper, lots of splashes in the bath tub kind of night.  I love listening to O's laughter.  I love spending time together.  Who knows what adventures this weekend holds for us.  I'm sure we will find something to do.

Geeky 365 -- Day 29

Orion is getting so big. A lot of his pants are getting to the point where they will soon be too short.  It's always a struggle because he has such a little frame that his pants are either falling off his butt or too short.   I've been grabbing pants for him as I see them.  He'll grow into them eventually.  We went today and got him some new shoes.   He really enjoyed trying on different kinds of shoes....including mine:

After shoe shopping we went to get some supper.  It's always entertaining to eat when a 2 year old is your only conversationalist.  Either way we had a good time. However, food took longer than Orion would have liked to show up.  First he kept his cool.....

Then he started to get bored...he'd rotate between asking for some food and doing this:

Eventually though he did get some food and seemed to be very satisfied.  We then came home & snuggled up with some juice and a movie to relax the rest of the evening.  All and all it has been a great day.

Geeky 365 -- Day 28

Tonight Orion and I got out the Halloween decorations and got them set up around the house.  O spent a lot of time saying "What is that?" and making me explain every single piece, but it was fun.  This is the first Halloween that he'll really know what's going on so I'm pretty excited.  I also got his costume today.  It needs some hemming but I think he'll look pretty dang cute.

Geeky 365 -- Day 27

Orion loves to jump.  He jumps off the curbs, down the stairs, across the couch, and off of any ledge he can find.  He pauses and then makes sure you know what he's about to do.  Then he bounds fearlessly trying to make it as far as he possibly can before hitting the ground.  He smiles proudly then and tells you that he did it.  Usually he expects a high five of some sort...but any positive feedback is good with him.  It makes me laugh, like a vast majority of the things he does.  Here he is telling me he is going to jump.  It is very serious business.

Geeky 365 -- Day 26

Halloween is just around the corner and with that comes costumes, pumpkins, and cooler weather.  It's been fun wandering stores with O trying to figure out what he wants to dress up as this year.  We haven't yet made a final decision on what he's going to wear, but we have had lots of fun with it nonetheless.

Geeky 365 -- Day 25

Home sweet home.  O seemed to have lots of fun this weekend with his dad, but I am definitely happy to be back home with him.  I missed my little boy and his awesomeness.

Geeky 365 -- Day 24

I'm definitely missing my boy today.   Hearing him talk & laugh makes me happy.   His little dimples just melt my heart.  I love my son more than anything.  I'm hoping he had a good day with his daddy.

Geeky 365 -- Day 23

Orion will be spending the weekend with his dad this weekend, which means we're going to use a couple pics from this week to make up for it.  Last night Orion was very giggly and lovey.  His mood can always lift my spirits after a rough week.  How can you stay made around a face like this:

Geeky 365 -- Day 22

Orion loves wearing his jacket.  He insists on zipping it up AND putting his hood on.  It is absolutely adorable and always makes me smile.  He's growing right now and I'm hoping he doesn't outgrow it before the seasons change and it's time for an actual coat.  I think both of us will be very sad when we have to say good-bye to this:

Seriously.  Could this kid be any cuter?  Jacket covered in monsters...with pointy little ears/horns.  I love it.

Geeky 365 -- Day 21

I love watching Orion play.  He's so creative, so entertaining.   He never ceases to amaze me with his imagination and the joy he gets from his games.

Geeky 365 -- Day 19

Pictures speak 1000 words.  Today, I'm simply going to let this one speak for itself.

Geeky 365 -- Day 18

Orion had a great time this weekend with his grandparents being in town.  He also ate better than he has in a long time.  I'm pretty sure he downed an entire chicken for supper last night...even without ketchup!  He's growing into such a big boy.  He is so kind, caring, and loving.  I'm so lucky to have such a great boy.

Geeky 365 -- Day 17

What a big day.  Orion spent all day today with his grandparents running around the zoo and making them both laugh constantly.  It was a great day with them.

Geeky 365 -- Day 16

Orion is so extremely expressive.  He makes me laugh so much.  This weekend our house is full of company so it should be lots of fun for him.  I'm definitely looking forward to it...almost as much as O is looking forward to his milk & cookies.

Geeky 365 -- Day 15

Today has been the kind of day that makes me absolutely love the way O's little brain processes things and the way he talks.  We had a lot of giggles, including him pulling a gorilla out of the toy box and saying "That's not a monkey.  That's my daddy. "  His sense of humor is so much fun.  I love watching him giggle when he says something silly.  What an amazing boy he's growing into.  We spent some quality outside in the super windy weather.  He kept telling me "It's windy on my head."  Luckily his short hair made it so it wasn't quite as chaotic for him out there.  In fact, I'd say he rather enjoyed it.
